Chairs' Welcome Note

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of all members of the local, steering, and technical committees, we are pleased to invite you to join us in the sixteenth edition of the International Conference on Power Systems Transients which will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 12 to 15 June 2023.

IPST Conference is a biennial event, offering a meeting place for experts and a platform for the exchange of scientific and technical information related to electromagnetic transients in electric power systems. Contributors are sought on all topics related to the study of transient phenomena in electric power systems. This includes, but is not limited to, models and techniques for computer simulations, HIL transient and dynamic studies and field measurements.

IPST 2023 is co-organized in Thessaloniki, Greece by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH).

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) is the biggest university in Greece. Named after the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, AUTH was founded originally in 1926. Located in the center of Thessaloniki, its Campus covers 430.000 m2 and has some 90.000 under- and post-graduate students and 4000 teaching and administrative staff members. Highly recognized internationally, participates in more than 35 international academic associations, and has collaboration contracts with more than 1400 Universities worldwide.

Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) was founded in 1973 and is named ‘Democritus’ after the ancient Greek philosopher Democritus, whose origin was from the town of Abdera in Xanthi. Geographically dispersed throughout Thrace, with 29,000 under- and post-graduate students and with teaching and administrative staff that exceeds 1500 people, the university is one of the most important academic institutions in Greece.
